ICCNY Networking Dinner - February 28th, 2008

Garden City, NY - ICCNY members and guests gathered at The Akbar Restaurant & Catering in Garden City, NY, for the Feb 28th meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce.  After open networking and socializing, an engaging speaker enlightened the membership on the topic of identity theft and how to prevent it.

The food was sumptuous at The Akbar Restaurant & Catering and the service was even better.  Members were impressed with the level of attentive servive and quality of food and cocktails.  In order to vary our venue, next month's meeting will be held in Valley Stream at DIYA lounge & banquet.  

In an introduction by the ICCNY President, Nilesh Kadakia, edified the featured speaker, Mr. James Reed as a sought after speaker, and credited him with raising millions of dollars for worthy causes, earning him numerous awards and citations.

Mr. Reed is the Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Office of Consumer Affairs, and well qualified to speak on his very current topic:  Identity Theft.

Covering a wide range of scenarios for identity theft, each area of exposure was matched with methods of safeguarding oneself from identitiy thieves.  Postal mail, restaurants, ATM machines and visitors to our businesses are all areas of risk.  However, with light humor and deep insight, Mr. Reed raised the memberships ability to safeguard against these techniques.
