ICCNY Networking Dinner - April 30th, 2008
Garden City, NY - The Akbar Restaurant & Catering in Garden City, NY, hosted the April 30th membership meeting of The Indian Chamber of Commerce of NY. Dynamic networking and introductions led into engaging speakers, followed by Akbar's renowned Indian Cuisine fare for dinner.
Passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails were served by the attentive staff. Members were impressed with the level of servive and quality of food and beverages. In order to vary our venue, next month's meeting will be held in Valley Stream at DIYA Lounge & Banquet.
The first speaker of the evening, ICCNY President, Nilesh Kadakia, addressed the membership, congratulating new members, new networking relationships and some recent programs and initiatives in the the chamber. Member enrollment, reiterated Mr. Kadakia, is of continuing importance to the growth of the chamber, and the membership's agreement was noted. Mr. Kadakia then edified the featured speaker, Mr. Alexander Phillips as a speaker of note, President/Counsel of Island Abstract, Inc. in Carle Place, and credited him with ability to inspire a positive & optimistic awareness of Long Island Real Estate, earning him continued business profitability in a challenging real property market. Mr. Phillips immediately caught the members' attention pointing out how the headlines "Housing Crisis!" are misleading, citing statistics as far back as the Great Depression. Shedding light on the best opportunities in decades for middle class home purchases on Long Island, he went on to positively highlight the benefit of shaking out the less committed and qualified professionals in the real estate and mortgage fields, and the building trades.
In closing, the boutique nature of Mr. Phillips title insurance, litigation and real estate business under Island Abstract, Inc. was highlighted -- ending his presentation on a growth-accented, optimistic note for Long Island real estate through the end of the decade.
The speakers were followed by a business card drawing, the winners enjoying a "Member Spotlight" on the ICCNY website for one month, the winners being: Amal Gawle, Financial Advisor with UBS Financial Services; Keith Peters, Mortgage Banker with Homeowners Mortgage Express; and Manish Patni, Principal with M&R Hotel Group in Jamaica, NY.
The sumptous, classic Indian Cuisine dinner ended the evening, followed by desserts, teas, coffee and more socializing and networking amongst the energized members and guests.
Continuing good news in May and June 2008! We are pleased to inform you that Indian Chamber of Commerce of New York has been approved as an Association Group with Berkshire Life Insurance Company.
All active members as well as their spouses, children, parents and grandparents are eligible for the group discount, 10% of premium, when they buy Long Term Care insurance.
As recommended by our past ICCNY guest speaker, Adam Cline, Certified Senior Advisor, with Forest Hills Financial Group, an educated viewpoint can observe that lack of this important coverage can wipe out your retirement plans in just a few years, so the ICCNY discount is terrific news.
